Teslink LLC — https://teslink.co

1. Introduction

Teslink LLC ("Teslink," "Company," "we," "us," or "our") respects your privacy and is committed to protecting the personal information you share with us. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, disclose, store, and protect information when you use the Teslink Solar mobile application (the "App"), the website at teslink.co (the "Site"), and all related services (collectively, the "Service").

This Privacy Policy applies to all users of the Service, regardless of how they access it. By using the Service, you consent to the practices described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information You Provide

Account Information: When you create an account, we collect your email address and, if you use social sign-in (Google or Apple), basic profile information provided by those services (such as your name and email). We do not collect or store passwords for social sign-in users.

Tesla Account Authorization: When you link your Tesla account, you authorize us to access your Tesla energy data through the Tesla Fleet API. We receive and store encrypted OAuth tokens issued by Tesla. We do not receive, access, or store your Tesla account password.

Communications: If you contact us for support or feedback, we collect the content of your messages, your email address, and any attachments you provide.

Preferences and Settings: We collect your in-app preferences, including alert configuration, notification preferences, and display settings.

2.2 Information Collected Automatically

Tesla Energy Data: Once you link your Tesla account, we automatically collect energy data from the Tesla Fleet API at intervals determined by your subscription tier. This includes: solar energy production (kWh); home energy consumption (kWh); grid import and export (kWh); Powerwall battery charge and discharge (kWh); self-sufficiency percentages; and peak production metrics. This data is associated with your account and retained to provide historical analytics.

Device Information: We collect information about the device you use to access the Service, including device model, operating system version, unique device identifiers, and Firebase Cloud Messaging tokens for push notifications.

Usage Data: We collect information about how you interact with the App, including features accessed, screens viewed, session duration, and interaction patterns. This helps us improve the Service.

Log Data: Our servers automatically record information when you access the Service, including IP address, request timestamps, API endpoints accessed, and error logs.

2.3 Information We Do NOT Collect

We want to be explicit about what we do not collect:

  • Your Tesla account password
  • Your payment card or banking information (payments are processed entirely by Apple or Google)
  • Your precise real-time geolocation (we do not request GPS permissions)
  • Control commands for your Tesla devices (our API access is strictly read-only)
  • Data from Tesla vehicles (the Service only accesses solar energy ecosystem data)

4. How We Store and Protect Your Information

4.1 Infrastructure

Your data is stored on Amazon Web Services (AWS) infrastructure located in the United States (us-east-1 region). We use industry-standard security practices including encryption at rest and in transit.

4.2 Tesla Token Security

Your Tesla OAuth tokens are encrypted using AWS Key Management Service (KMS) before being stored in our database. Tokens are never stored in plaintext, never included in log files, and never exposed through our API. Access to the KMS encryption keys is restricted to authorized backend services through AWS Identity and Access Management (IAM) policies.

4.3 Data in Transit

All data transmitted between the App and our servers is encrypted using TLS 1.2 or higher. All data transmitted between our servers and the Tesla Fleet API is similarly encrypted.

4.4 Access Controls

Access to user data within our systems is restricted on a need-to-know basis. We implement the principle of least privilege for all service components and maintain audit logs of data access.

4.5 Security Limitations

While we implement commercially reasonable security measures, no method of electronic storage or transmission is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security of your data. In the event of a data breach that affects your personal information, we will notify you in accordance with applicable law.

5. Data Retention

  • Processed Energy Data: Retained for the duration of your active account to provide historical analytics and trend analysis. This is a core value proposition of the Service.
  • Raw Tesla API Responses: Stored in Amazon S3 with the following lifecycle: Standard storage for 90 days; Infrequent Access for up to 1 year; Glacier archival thereafter.
  • Account Information: Retained for the duration of your active account plus 30 days after deletion.
  • Log Data: Retained for up to 90 days for debugging and security purposes.
  • Aggregated/Anonymized Data: May be retained indefinitely as it cannot be used to identify you.

6. Data Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell your personal information. We do not share your individual energy data with third parties for their marketing purposes. We may share information in the following limited circumstances:

Service Providers: We use third-party service providers to operate the Service, including Amazon Web Services (cloud infrastructure and data storage), Firebase/Google (push notifications), Apple and Google (payment processing and app distribution), and email service providers (transactional emails). These providers access your data only as necessary to perform services on our behalf and are contractually obligated to protect it.

Aggregated Data: We may share aggregated, anonymized data that does not identify individual users for research, benchmarking, industry analysis, or marketing purposes.

Legal Requirements: We may disclose your information if required by law, subpoena, court order, or other legal process, or if we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, your safety, or the safety of others, investigate fraud, or respond to a government request.

Business Transfers: If Teslink LLC is involved in a merger, acquisition, asset sale, or bankruptcy, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you before your information is transferred and becomes subject to a different privacy policy.

With Your Consent: We may share your information for other purposes with your explicit consent.

11. Analytics and Performance Monitoring

We may use analytics tools to understand how the Service is used and to improve performance. These tools may collect information such as how often you use the App, events that occur within the App, aggregated usage data, and performance data. We use this information in aggregate form to improve the Service and do not use it to identify individual users for marketing purposes.
